I’m slightly embarrassed to admit that my P(doom) (probability that AI will do bad things) has creeped up just high enough that I have become a mini prepper. Relatively low cost/effort to match the low, but non-zero, probability.
I tested out filtering creek water and cooking with twigs:
Bought a couple of solar panels for charging laptops, flashlights, etc:
And 6 months of easy cook grains & legumes with a shelf life of 20+ years. I discovered that cheapest supplier is the LDS online store. Cost about the same as 1 month of groceries ($500) and they shipped 300 lbs of food for $3! Hoping to start slowly eating all that food around 2050 🙂
