Meet Ruby!

Posted on July 31, 2021July 31, 2021 by brucewinter

We have a Granddaughter!! Meet Ruby Kaifei Winter, born yesterday 7/30 after a 13 hour delivery, 7 lbs 15 oz:

Chloe was more than ready for her appearance, and Zach taught Max some medical skills:

In other news, I have started to drink! Coffee. For 63 years, nobody told me you can keep it zero calorie but still make it palatable, even tasty, by diluting it with water. The “Americano”, legend goes, was invented by the Italians as a way of transforming the Expresso into something the WWII GIs could stomach.

We have had 40″ of rain so far this year, mushrooms are loving it:

A large snapping turtle paid us a visit. They can live to be 100 years old, growing up to 75 lbs. They are also noted for their combative disposition, which I can attest to after having moved off the road into the creek:

Caught a couple of other critters on video. That tiny bug has got sharp painful claws!

Zach bought a sailboat for pennies on the dollar!

Closing with Alabama’s state wildflower: Oak-leaf hydrangea:
