Barred-ed

Posted on February 27, 2025 by brucewinter

The barred owl house my neighbor Art built has occupants!

She started out as a daytime only tenant but now seems to be nesting. Papa has uber eats duties:

I have a 16x optical camera monitoring them from a distance. She is not too happy when squirrels visit:

Normal speed version:

Unfortunately, the bottom of the house had delaminated, so I attempted a duct tape rescue. Mrs Owl objected:

Slowmode:

Normal speed:

Nick, Max, & Clark made an impressive snowman:

Touchingly reminiscent of a similar man that Nick, Zach, and I made 30 years earlier!

I replace a rotted hot tub carpet with something a little less toxic to my bare feet:

In attempting make a cement sculpture, I inadvertently sphinx-ified Helen:

I don’t think she would have been offended … will try it on myself first next time πŸ™‚

Owl story, although I guess it is also a bit of an “awl” story. Her talons are as sharp as an awl πŸ™‚

Bruce, you really became one with your wildlife backyard. Marvelous.

Thanks Tom. In this case, I would prefer to be a little less one with that owl πŸ™‚

That is great! I love your dedication to helping the owl.m, even if she doesn’t appreciate it! Amazing birds! What riddle would Sphinx Helen ask?

Sphinx: “What walks on four legs in the morning, two legs in the afternoon, and three legs in the evening?”
      “Man.”

Helen: “What uses 2 legs to ascend a ladder and gravity to descend?” “Man visiting an owl nest”
