We have had a few fun guests this month. This foxy fox only stayed for a minute, traversing our backyard, to much doggy excitement:
And this foxy non-fox has been with us for the last few weeks:
And this non-foxy non-fox is non-foxy mostly because she is fully dead (I found insects are more cooperative photo subjects in that state):
Notice something missing from this kitchen photo?
No, not the 12 foot fire breathing diamond coated right angled saber tooth tribble … good guess though! He lives in the guest bedroom … visitors welcome 🙂
Also not the water logged Budda, which is probably not a Budda, but I call any happy looking cross legged thingy a Budda. He/she lived down by the creek until a big rain storm turned the timid little creek into a gusher and washed him/her off her/his pedestal:
The missing kitchen item? An old brown stained pine table we stole from Zach years ago. We decided to black-if-y it:
Now we are considering white-if-ying the red kitchen wall. Helen really likes the red, but I think the kitchen is too dark, so we are currently weighing the pros/cons.
A white wall would match the white dog. I appear to have his vote:
The doggy has been bonding with our foxy mystery guest. At least they were bonding pretty well until he clawed her eye out:
Just kidding. She clawed her own eye out.
She, if you haven’t figured it out yet, is Aya. She moved her tele-commuting base from RI to here for the month, then will be off working from Paris for a few months, where most of her 3d graphics team is located:
Last month the little creek turned on for an hour under clear blue skies. A few weeks ago it did it again, this time for 3 days! The dragon got excited:
The gnomes got happy:
And the dog got adventurous:
A little too adventurous … this is him about 1 second before he inadvertently slipped into the creek, on his way to the Gulf of Mexico via the Alabama river:
I would have taken a picture of him after I rescued him, wet and humbled, but he told me not to. I think he was embarrassed.
So for 3 days we enjoyed a roaring creek. Note the cold/wet/humbled doggy warming up under my desk:
I went on a bike ride up the hill to the headwaters and finally figured out the source. The city water people were emptying out a water tank so they could paint the inside. Unfortunately looks like a one time event.
But when we get a heavy rain, the creek really gushes!
These chairs heroically tried to perch themselves on the precarious slopes:
Seeing a good excuse to play with dirt and rocks, I scraped out a flat spot for them:
I also created a couple of rock and dirt stairs and paths. The (s)he Budda is much happier in this higher/dryer spot:
We are happy now also. We finally closed on the sale of our Salt Lake house … whew! Two mortgages was not much fun.
2400 miles West of here there is another bundle of happiness. We are enjoying lots of creative Max photos from Chloe and Nick. Hard to pick just a few of them … cuteness overload:
I’ll finish up with a link to another geek video I did a few weeks ago, this one on a new way of monitoring house power usage … the Dragon attempts become a movie star:
